How Learn It's K–6 Mathematics content is written, structured and checked · learnit.net.au
Learn It's K–6 Mathematics course is authored for the NSW Mathematics K–6 Syllabus, organised on a documented three-tier difficulty ladder, and backed by automated, whole-bank verification of its answer keys — every question is structurally checked, not spot-checked.
Written for the NSW syllabus

Every skill is written for the NSW Mathematics K–6 Syllabus and mapped against the official NESA Mathematics K–10 Syllabus (2022) outcome codes. Every one of the course's 648 skills carries an individual NESA outcome code; the mapping is visible to teachers, not hidden in a spreadsheet:

  • An outcome badge — e.g. NSW · MA2-GM-03 — appears in-app on the skill screen and beside skills in the browse list.
  • The same outcome code is printed on Learn It's printable papers and worksheets.

The complete year-by-year mapping is set out in the accompanying K–6 Scope & Sequence document.

A documented difficulty ladder

Question banks are built to a written specification with three tiers per skill, so "harder" means genuinely harder — not just bigger numbers:

Bronze

Real single-step foundations — one idea, applied directly.

Silver

Two-step problems and careful diagram reading.

Gold

Multi-step reasoning that combines ideas within the skill.

Students earn a medal per tier, and progress reports show the same Bronze/Silver/Gold record parents and teachers see.

Machine-verified answer keys

Every question bank passes through automated audit scripts before it ships. The checks:

Recompute answers — sampled questions are independently re-solved and compared with the stored answer key.

Validate structure — every multiple-choice answer must appear verbatim among its options; malformed or empty questions fail the build.

Validate diagrams — every diagram and interactive question type is checked against the renderer's supported set, so no student ever meets a broken graphic.

Test grading itself — new banks are run through the same answer-checking code the live app uses. This process has caught and fixed real grading edge-cases before students saw them.

Lessons that match the questions

Skill videos use a single, consistent narrator and teach the exact step-by-step method used in the matching question bank — so the way a concept is explained is the way it is practised. A lesson button sits alongside practice, and students who miss two questions in a row are nudged toward the relevant video. Video coverage is being extended year level by year level.
